Dr. Raphael J. Sonenshein is an internationally recognized scholar of Los Angeles and California politics, American governance, and charter reform.
Dr. Sonenshein is the executive director of the John Randolph Haynes and Dora Haynes Foundation. Previously, he served as the executive director of the Pat Brown Institute for Public Affairs at Cal State LA. He was a professor of political science and public administration at Cal State Fullerton for 29 years, and has led the reform of multiple major city charters, including Los Angeles.
The author of three books, his writing has appeared in the L.A. Times, The Guardian, Le Monde, among many others, and he is frequently called upon by major media to offer his expertise and analysis. Full bio here.
